The first five
We began with five locally sourced, mixed-breed goats and borrowed shelter while our own goat house took shape.
Herd · Beginnings
In January 2025, we bought five locally sourced, mixed-breed goats: four females and one male. Our own goat house was still under construction, so the animals initially stayed at a neighbouring facility.
They shared that setting with an existing herd. The photographs from this period therefore include goats beyond the five we had bought.
We used this period to finish the goat house and establish the daily work around feeding, housing and handling. These five animals were the herd we began building from.
