Planting the fodder bank — Keragita Farms

We began with a wheelbarrow full of fresh cuttings and an area of newly opened ground. Each load had to be carried to the plot before planting could begin.

We placed the cuttings by hand in the prepared soil. A wider view shows the extent of the worked plot and the planting lines across it.

When we returned, the first green shoots were standing above the soil. We now need to follow their survival through dry weather and measure what the plot produces at harvest.

We are building this fodder bank to supply more feed from our own land. The next entries will record what survives, how quickly it grows and what we are able to harvest.
