New kids, an unfinished count
We welcomed new kids in July and began the work of identifying them before publishing a new herd count.

Herd · Births
We welcomed another group of kids into the herd. The photographs follow them from the raised floor of the timber goat house to the doorway and the shaded yard outside.
We also lost a set of triplets. One died immediately after birth. We made every effort we could to save the remaining two, but both died two days later.
The kids stayed close to the adult goats as they began moving around the house and yard. We are matching each young animal to its birth and parentage records before assigning a new herd total.
Our last documented census counted 42 animals in May 2026. The births and losses since then mean that figure is no longer current. We will publish a new total after we reconcile the herd animal by animal.
For now, our work is to observe the kids, identify them and keep their early care attached to the correct records. The next census will come from that process.
